About Me
My love of food has been life long. Tastes and smells evoke memories of holidays, family, and laughter. I began baking in 2006 and discovered a natural talent that gave me a sense of calm. More than a hobby, I found great joy in watching people enjoy my creations. In 2012, I began following a gluten free diet due to health concerns. My love of baking found a new avenue in creating bakes that were not just “good for gluten free”, but simply GREAT. I am a baker determined to abolish the stigma associated with gluten free goodies and make inclusive baking the new normal.
When I am not baking, I am chasing my 3 young children and catching some shut eye whenever, and where ever I can! Our family of 5 is completed with 2 purring kitties in our small Raleigh home. I love spending time outdoors and clearing my mind with power yoga whenever possible.
How Freshly Baked By Meg Started
In 2020 my husband Patrick and I recognized the very real need for a dedicated gluten free space for me to bake in. After searching high and low for a commercial kitchen where I could make this dream a reality, I took a page from another North Carolina baker and decided to build a kitchen off our deck that would serve as the new home for Freshly Baked by Meg. In 2021 my dream became a reality: my 100% gluten free kitchen is now where I spend 40 hours a week creating and making dietary restrictions child’s play.
